Janet of All Trades

Its been a long cold winter and I have been busy in the studio making jewelry and planning for the upcoming show this Summer and Fall. The ideas keep coming so I keep creating and this was one that just came to me in the last few weeks so I thought I would share. It all started when I was think about shamrocks and how could I make one that would be very simple but unique. I then the ace of clubs came to my mind I thought about cutting a few cards, but I knew I would never be able to cut it out that perfect. So I broke the shape down in to circles. So I cut a few circles with my hole punch from some Encyclopedia Paper and transformed them into Shamrocks. First the Leaves of the Shamrock and then the stem, which is just a sliver of paper. Coat with a few coats of Mod Podge and let dry and a sealer for the top and it was done.  I attached a bead to the bottom and it was ready to adorn a Skelton Key. I think I have problem. It might not be oblivious at first but it is getting bigger and bigger. It's not that I am a hoarded or compulsive shopper..  The key to my problem is.. Awhile back I bought a lot of jewelry parts and pieces on Etsy hoping to use some or all its contents for jewelry design. Within the lovely assortment of items was this Butterfly pin. I removed the faux jewels that adorned its wings as well as it's strange eyes and then didn't know what to do with it until I saw this weeks Sunday Paper. See at the bottom the Butterfly Necklace! I think I found my inspiration, although I made my necklace the day before this was in the paper. I used a little bit of Lapis and some glass beads recycle from a vintage necklace. Added a Gun Metal colored chain since I thought it added interest and gave it a vintage feel. Then I experimented with moving the chain and placing the pendant off center.  I think I like the way it looks non-sysmetrical the best. I wasn't much of a Butterfly Jewelry fan before I made this.. But I love this Butterfly Revamp Necklace Enjoy!
