Summer Modern Art Pendants

I love Modern Art and I love recycling so it seems perfectly natural that I should want to create something with a little influence of each. I decided the best way to combine them both would be to create a few pendants. I started with some Vintage Dominoes, bright colored paper, large jump rings and some pendant bails. I cut the paper to size and affixed and sealed with Mod Podge. Then I used my jump rings to create designs and then cover it all with Dimensional Magic. Super easy and my pendants were complete. Geometric and purple  Stripes and Green Pink and Lime Green  So easy and uses leftover scraps and beads. Just a little Modern Art for your neck! Enjoy!

What I Saw Wednesday - Wall of Art

I love getting ideas from magazines and the wall of art is one of my favorite concepts that I try to duplicate in my home. I found some great examples as templates for my next wall in Coastal Living and Elle Decor.  I like the idea of the ledge and the different frames since the black and white photos tie everything together from Elle Decor September 2011. A wall of objects all in the same color tone look fantastic over this outdoor sink from Coast Living September 2011. Wall of books and art from Elle Decor. I think I like this one the best with is combination of shelving and art and the subtle use of Chartreuse. I think it is time for me to gather up some frames and some art and start a wall! Enjoy!

Plant Tag Art

Over the years, I have saved every plant identification tag from every plant I have used in my garden. I used them to learn and identify each plant and used them in a journal and a scrapbook. I still have many left and thought there some way I could use them. Then I had an Idea. Just use them as Art and then I could enjoy them all year long. I first selected a few that I liked the best. Then I painted a piece of cardboard with Rust-Oleum Hammered Finish paint, since I wanted it to look like galvanized metal. Next I cut each tag and a piece of the cardboard and attached the tag with a piece of foam tape to add some dimension. The last step was to arrange on a piece of card stock and attached with more foam tape.  And the last step was to place in a freshly spray painted frame. My art was done and ready to enjoy!
