Scrapbook Wall

I use to like to Scrapbook, but all my hard work was always out of sight hidden in a book. So I decided to display my work in a hallway of our home. I thought it would be a good place to display all the photos of places that my husband and I have visited over the years. The hallway started out looking like this.
A dark hallway to nowhere... but with a little paint and carpet.. it looks like this now.. well this is part of the wall..
I just keep adding bits and pieces from each time we travel. One of my favorites are the smashed pennies that I have been collecting for years. They were kept in a jar out of sight for a long time until I figured a way to use them.
Now today I am just about to add a new frame from our tennis tournament trip this past August and from last year. It is super simple and all I needed was a few photos, tickets from the event and a map of the facility from the draw sheet.
First I took the map and placed it in the center of the mat as my focal point.

The I arranged the photos and the tickets around it.

So easy and now I can see my favorite players and my mementos every time I walk down the stairs( that is once I hang it!). I like use the exact same frames to keep the collection looking cohesive but use different sizes to vary the aesthetics. I think it is a wonderful way to display you memories without having to pull out a huge scrapbook. Only thing I need to worry about is if I run out of wall space! Enjoy!

I like to watch tutorials on my Ipad and although I have a cover that converts to a stand, it isn't always the best solution for viewing. So I decided to make one of my own inspired by these Iphone stands I found on Etsy. They are sold by dognamedbanjo  and are really unique and lovely. So I thought I could make one similar to it and here is how i did it. First I started with a 1 yard of a fabric in my two favorite colors. Then I cut the following pieces 1 Pc 13" x 13" 1 pc 29 x 13" 2 Triangle pieces 13" x 13" x 13" Next I sewed the top square to the two triangles. This is will be the sides and the base. Next I took the large rectangular piece and sewed it to the bottom of the square. T-shirt Upcycle to Cardigan

I have had this large long sleeved t-shirt for about a year. I paid $2.99 for it at the Salvation Army and appeared to be new. I had thought about embellishing it with a flower or two but could not come up with a original or cute idea so I decided to make a cardigan out of it. So lets get started and upcycle another piece of clothing! First I laid the shirt out and measured from under arm to under arm to find the exact center. Once I found the center, I cut right up the middle. This step always makes me nervous ever since I was a child and tried to cut a collar on a coat to make it narrower. It was a disaster but I try not to think about it that much and just cut. Once it was cut, I decided to use the hem from another t-shirt that I had cut up for another project.  I cut two pieces of the hem of the t- shirt long enough to cover the edge of the cardigan and wrap around the top and bottom edge. Scrap Fabric Pumpkin Art

It feels like Fall is officially here and I have been thinking about a few Fall projects lately. I talked about last week the Ghost globes and they are still in the planning phase and hope to have them finished very soon. While in the process of figuring out the design for the globes, my mind went astray and found another project for me to work on. I have lot of scrap fabric and I am always trying to use every last bit of it and so I created another project..Scrap Fabric Pumpkin Art. First I started with an image of a pumpkin. Just a nice black and white image that I download from the web. Then I used my favorite technique and cut the image it to pattern pieces. Now I numbered them so I knew what order then went in since when I first cut them out I got them a little mixed up. Next I traced and cut the pieces from my fabric. Pretty easy, just trace and cut. Then I laid out my pieces to make sure they looked like a pumpkin. Looking at this now, I could have done two things different....
