Every year I have the difficult task of coming up with an idea to cover the bottom of the Christmas tree. In years past I have just used a piece of fabric wrapped around the bases, but this year I wanted something a little different. I started with an ordinary shipping box.
Then I cut just the top off a few inches from the fold.
I wanted the open corners so that the stand would look and fold correctly when under the tree. Next cut a piece of Burlap, just a few inches longer on the top.
Then I covered the cardboard with the Burlap. I used tiny sequin pins to hold it in place since I didn't want to glue it and I wanted it to hang nicely. Also it can be taken apart and reused if I decide not to use it next year.
Then I placed it under the tree, making sure that all sides are square and the back was closed.
I thought it needed a little color so I added a gold and white ribbon.
I think it looks great and ties into the rest of my decorations and the tree.
Now my decorating is almost done! Enjoy!
This looks really terrific! Dontcha love burlap?
